The Bolívarian revolution is on the march

The Venezuelan parliament has handed President Hugo Chávez sweeping new powers that will empower him to reverse the neo-liberal privatisations of previous governments. He also plans to use the new powers to devolve power back to the grass roots by creating communal councils.

Bush’s intelligence Tzar, John Negroponte, claimed Chávez poses a threat to democracy by promoting "radical populism," which, we can only assume, is contrary to Bush’s preferred "radical un-populism." Ha!

Bush's democracy is at stake. Senators and Congresspersons in his country have decided that he is not alone to decide, because as you know Bush wants to decide all by himself in questions where the integrity - and the pockets -
of other Americans is in jeopardy.

From what I can see happening in the US now, matters are not going smoothly for Bush and his acolytes in their country.

Aah! Democracy! How easy it is to talk of it and how difficult it is to respect it.

Too true Jose.

Cheney has always believed in the imperial president. This is what he tried to achieve during the Nixon administration. The problem is: will a Democrat house pull funding for US troops?

No. Which means Bush is free to manage his foreign policy as he chooses.
