Rightwing nutjob Beck, advocates secession.

So you thought Fox News' resident mentalist, Glenn Beck, couldn't get more unhinged.

You were wrong. So very wrong.

You know the Republicans are going down the toilet faster than an aerodynamically sculptured turd, don't you? Heh. Good.

I believ ethat is called "talking crazy to power." People manage to believe all kinds of nonsense in contradiction to evidence. There must be some organic brain deficiency.

For a second there, I thought that guitar God Jeff beck has turned into a Nazi.

While the likes of Beck, Limbaugh et al no doubt deserve to be mocked, what we should be doing is hoping the GOP becomes sane & mounts an effective opposition.

As you are (are you not?) generally a small-stater, surely you realise that there's potential for the Dems to go too far. I would want someone to challenge them at that stage.

But maybe I'll just scrap the above two paragraphs & enjoy right-whingers' pain. Especially after Obama's actions against these Somali fuckers, which by all accounts was a success of exactly the kind they supposedly want, but mostly can't bring themself to support because that pesky Moose-limb terrrrst brought it about.

Is it me, or is he starting to sound a bit like Lewis Prothero?

Fair enough, let Texas go I say, without those lovely electoral college votes, Washington would stay with the Dems far more often.

It would be interesting to have two Americas, one with Obama doing the government spending thing, and one with some Republican nutjob doing the laissez-faire thing.

They'd have to go halves on the border fence though, can't have loads of Texans entering the US illegally.

asquith,

If Republicanism actually meant a small-state, then you'd have a point.

What the GOP deliver in practice is a state that fucks over the people, tells them how to live their lives and what they can do with their bodies, racks up the debt on pork and unsustainable tax-cuts, and then goes around the world spreading the Bushian-love.

They're way too far gone. It'll take a generation before they'll recover. Then again, the Democrat's ability to screw themselves shouldn't be underestimated.

Obama doesn't have all the answers, but at least he's a sane voice amid the din of Washington bullshit.

Dave Cole,

I think he may be. Alan Moore is probably our best indicator of the future at the moment.

Heh best line I've seen today! :D

Mr. Z,

I think the individual states should just be more independent. Vermont shouldn't influence or care what happens in Texas and vice-versa.

They might be better repealing the banking liberalisation too, which allowed multi-state banks and created the faceless behemoths that now teeter on the edge of disaster.

Heh. Cheers.

The states have so mismanged their affairs that they wound up with considerably reduced authority. Additionaly partisans seem to pursue the illusion that if they can get a hold of the Federal government, they can change the country in one fell swoop. Oh, and we have a lot of nuts over here.

What's so wrong with the states deciding to un-unite? Why are you so bothered about telling them what to do?

It makes perfect sense for the US to split into two then you lefties can pursue your Obama socialism and the normal people can get on with it.

Don't worry though, if your experiment fails, you can cross into our states and find work cleaning our houses.

April 22, 2009 | Unregistered Commenteriamwright

Not being an American, I don't have to worry about that.

Just one thought, though...

If Democrat politics are destined to fail, it's strange that blue States are overwhelmingly net-contributors to the Union - as opposed the majority of Red ones. Fact.
